Tubes SBU

17th December 1954. An important day in the history of Indian tube technology.

It was on this day that the India Tube Company – a joint venture between Tata Steel and Stewarts & Lloyds of UK – begun operations. In 1985, the India Tube Company merged with Tata Steel to form the Tata Steel-Tubes Division.

Today, Tubes SBU is a leading manufacturer of pipes and tubes in the country with an annual production capacity of around 500,000 metric tonnes.

Tubes SBU caters to 3 product segments:

  • • Conveyance tubes, with the brand Tata Pipes
  • • Structural tubes, with the brand Tata Structura and
  • • Precision Tubes for the auto and boiler segments

We do not stop at producing quality tubes for an ever-growing nation. We also pride ourselves on unmatched service. Apart from its main manufacturing unit at Jamshedpur and marketing headquarters at Kolkata, we have a wide and efficient network. With 22 sales offices, more than 50 channel partners and over 3000 dealers spread across India, prompt and effective customer service is guaranteed. Tubes SBU has grown considerably since its inception with production facilities established in all 4 regions.

It is important to keep ourselves up to date with the enhanced requirements of the modern industries. To this end, we have employed a state-of-the-art plant modernization program, involving up-gradation of technology and processes. This has enabled us to achieve a high degree of customization to better fulfill our customers’ requirements.

The genesis of Tubes SBU’s excellence is that it is a part of the global steel giant Tata Steel. We source Hot & Cold Roll Coil Strips, used as raw material, exclusively from the Tata Steel mills. The Tata Steel Tubes SBU received the coveted JRD Quality Value award in 2010, one of only 8 divisions in Tata group to have been honored with the distinction.

With every Tata Steel product, we get the legendary quality standard that the 150 year-old Tata Group embodies.
